What do you love about working for yourself?
The best part of my job is the flexibility I have to manage my time as I see fit. Running a consulting business while taking care of a family that includes two little boys is no small feat. I can prioritize my time based on who (or what) needs me most.
What’s the hardest thing about being an entrepreneur?
The hardest thing has to be just sitting down to relax. I am usually doing something either related to the business or taking care of my home. I rarely have an hour to lie down and read a book, for example. I wish I had more leisure time to unwind.
What do you wish you knew before you started your business?
I definitely wish I had become more comfortable with selling myself and my skills at an earlier age. It is so important to be a walking advertisement and spread the word for your business
Why do you do what you do? Where did the idea come from?
I have always enjoyed analyzing the processes that support a successful business or organization. I am very analytical and I enjoy making the “flow” of a business smooth. Doing some form of consulting work was a natural path for me to take.
How different is what you do now from what you wanted to do as a child?
I actually wanted to be a computer scientist as a child. I got accepted into a computer science program, but found out that an engineering major plus a business minor would be a better use of my analytical skills (in my opinion). So I guess my life as a consultant now is quite different from what I looked forward to as a child.
How long have you been working out of CapitalSquare? What has the experience been like? Would you recommend it?
I started working at Capital Square in November 2014. I love it! There’s a great view, good Wi-Fi and lots of coffee! Not to mention the friends and business connections I’ve made with the other people who work out of Capital Square. Come join us!
If you could share a desk with any two people in the world, who would they be? Why?
I’ve been a fan of Barack & Michelle Obama since their first presidential campaign. I love the fact that they are a classy power couple.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
Definitely a tigress. I’ve always loved how majestic and sleek they are.
And that concludes the interview!
