Each month, we sit down with a member of our community to talk about their work, their experience working out of CapitalSquare, and to just generally let the world know how awesome they are.!
This month, our spotlight is on Damilola Ojurongbe, muffin whisperer and management consultant at Areedi
Who: Damilola Ojurongbe
What she does: management consulting
Working from CapitalSquare since: November 2016
Hi, Dami! Please tell us a bit about yourself and your background.
Hello! I have an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, and a graduate degree in Information Tech. I worked at an oil servicing firm briefly before transitioning to management consulting.
What’s your typical workday like? Tell us about what you do for Areedi.
I’m an associate consultant for Areedi. On any typical day, I’m at my desk either knee-deep in research, or designing process maps. Sometimes I have the opportunity to go out and visit client sites. I’ve been to a few farms out of town. That was fun.
Why is design thinking important?
That’s a no brainer. New innovative solutions to the problems at hand.
One easy way startups can introduce service design into how they work?
Two important things about design thinking are, research and putting the customer first. Combine those two, and you will be able to focus on personalized experiences for your customers.
What productivity tips do you swear by?
RUTHLESSLY block out distractions for a set time. Otherwise, my wandering mind would never let me get anything done.
If you could be someone else for a day, who would you choose to be and why?
J.K. Rowling. In another life, I am an accomplished writer who is also sometimes petty. Lol/
One fun fact about you 😊
I just recently chopped all my hair off for no apparent reason. Lol. Also I’m distressingly shy.
When you’re not working or baking yummy muffins, how do you unwind?
I always have a book at hand that I am reading. Currently reading Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo and What Happened by HRC. (Who doesn’t read more than one book at a time?)
You’ve spent a few months working from our Lekki space now. What are your thoughts about CapitalSquare?
I have liked working out of here the last year or so. I tend to keep to myself and just work while I’m here and CapitalSquare has allowed me to be able to do that. The Monday breakfasts are a nice touch. (Maybe some fit fam friendly options too?)
Thank you so much for you time, Dami. This was fun :)
